Salah times Elmadağ: calculation method and Asr

Method: Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı method (Turkey). Asr: Standard.

Times follow Diyanet's official method: İmsak (Fajr) at 18°, Yatsı (Isha) at 17°, plus temkin, the fixed precaution minutes Diyanet adds (sunrise −7, Dhuhr +5, Asr +4, Maghrib +7). In Turkey İmsak is when the fast begins and equals Fajr here. For the places we checked, our minutes match Diyanet's published tables or differ by one minute at most, because Diyanet may use slightly different coordinates for a town. Switch the method or the Asr school below if your mosque follows another timetable.

Jummah time Elmadağ

—Europe/Istanbul

Elmadağ does not change its clocks; times stay on Europe/Istanbul all year. How times are calculated

Elmadağ, the Sun and the clock

Elmadağ is in Ankara and has about 25,000 people. The nearest larger city is Kırıkkale, 25 km to the east-southeast. Elmadağ lies 11.8° west of the 45° E meridian that its time zone is based on. The Sun therefore reaches its highest point about 47 minutes after 12:00 on average, around 12:47, and Dhuhr comes later than the clock suggests.

The Sun never stands straight overhead in Elmadağ: at Dhuhr it climbs to about 74° above the horizon in June and only 27° in December, so noon shadows are much longer in December. Days in Elmadağ range from 9h 20m in December to 15h 0m in June, a difference of 5h 40m, and Fajr, Maghrib and Isha shift with them. At 1,132 m above sea level, Elmadağ sits on high ground. Times are calculated for a level horizon; from a hilltop or a tall building sunrise can come a little earlier and sunset a little later than listed, while mountains to the east or west do the opposite.

Maghrib time Elmadağ compared with nearby cities

Prayer times shift with longitude: about 4 minutes for every degree east or west. Here is how today's Fajr and Maghrib in nearby places compare with Elmadağ, calculated with the same method.
