How Jafaria times are calculated

Fajr begins when the sun is 16° below the horizon and Isha at 14°. Maghrib is not at sunset but when the sun reaches 4° below the horizon, usually 13 to 20 minutes later. Asr begins when an object's shadow equals its length plus its noon shadow. Isha's time ends at Islamic midnight, halfway between sunset and Fajr.
