Clocks change on 24 April and 29 October. Prayer times on those days shift by an hour on the clock, not in the sky. How times are calculated

Naqādah, the Sun and the clock

Naqādah is in Qena and has about 27,000 people. The nearest larger city is Qūş, 4 km to the east-northeast. Naqādah lies 2.7° east of the 30° E meridian that its time zone is based on, so the Sun is highest about 11 minutes before 12:00 on average, around 11:49, and Dhuhr comes earlier than the clock suggests. In summer, when the clocks go forward an hour, that moment moves to around 12:49.

The Sun never stands straight overhead in Naqādah: at Dhuhr it climbs to about 88° above the horizon in June and only 41° in December, so noon shadows are much longer in December. Days in Naqādah range from 10h 31m in December to 13h 46m in June, a difference of 3h 15m, and Fajr, Maghrib and Isha shift with them.

Maghrib time Naqādah compared with nearby cities

Prayer times shift with longitude: about 4 minutes for every degree east or west. Here is how today's Fajr and Maghrib in nearby places compare with Naqādah, calculated with the same method.
