Salah times Yakınca: calculation method and Asr

Method: Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı method (Turkey). Asr: Standard.

Times follow Diyanet's official method: İmsak (Fajr) at 18°, Yatsı (Isha) at 17°, plus temkin, the fixed precaution minutes Diyanet adds (sunrise −7, Dhuhr +5, Asr +4, Maghrib +7). In Turkey İmsak is when the fast begins and equals Fajr here. For the places we checked, our minutes match Diyanet's published tables or differ by one minute at most, because Diyanet may use slightly different coordinates for a town. Switch the method or the Asr school below if your mosque follows another timetable.

Jummah time Yakınca

Friday prayer (Jummah) replaces Dhuhr on Fridays. The calculated Dhuhr start in Yakınca this Friday is 12:16; the khutbah and congregation times are set by each masjid, so check with your local mosque.

Yakınca does not change its clocks; times stay on Europe/Istanbul all year. How times are calculated

Yakınca, the Sun and the clock

Yakınca is in Malatya and has about 23,000 people. The nearest larger city is Malatya, 9 km to the northeast. Yakınca lies 6.8° west of the 45° E meridian that its time zone is based on. The Sun therefore reaches its highest point about 27 minutes after 12:00 on average, around 12:27, and Dhuhr comes later than the clock suggests.

The Sun never stands straight overhead in Yakınca: at Dhuhr it climbs to about 75° above the horizon in June and only 28° in December, so noon shadows are much longer in December. Days in Yakınca range from 9h 30m in December to 14h 50m in June, a difference of 5h 20m, and Fajr, Maghrib and Isha shift with them. At 1,030 m above sea level, Yakınca sits on high ground. Times are calculated for a level horizon; from a hilltop or a tall building sunrise can come a little earlier and sunset a little later than listed, while mountains to the east or west do the opposite.

Maghrib time Yakınca compared with nearby cities

Prayer times shift with longitude: about 4 minutes for every degree east or west. Here is how today's Fajr and Maghrib in nearby places compare with Yakınca, calculated with the same method.
