Salah times Malkara: calculation method and Asr

Method: Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı method (Turkey). Asr: Standard.

Times follow Diyanet's official method: İmsak (Fajr) at 18°, Yatsı (Isha) at 17°, plus temkin, the fixed precaution minutes Diyanet adds (sunrise −7, Dhuhr +5, Asr +4, Maghrib +7). In Turkey İmsak is when the fast begins and equals Fajr here. For the places we checked, our minutes match Diyanet's published tables or differ by one minute at most, because Diyanet may use slightly different coordinates for a town. Malkara, the Sun and the clock

Malkara is in Tekirdag and has about 27,000 people. The nearest larger city is Tekirdağ, 52 km to the east. Malkara lies 18.1° west of the 45° E meridian that its time zone is based on. The Sun therefore reaches its highest point about 72 minutes after 12:00 on average, around 13:12, and Dhuhr comes later than the clock suggests.

The Sun never stands straight overhead in Malkara: at Dhuhr it climbs to about 73° above the horizon in June and only 26° in December, so noon shadows are much longer in December. Days in Malkara range from 9h 14m in December to 15h 7m in June, a difference of 5h 53m, and Fajr, Maghrib and Isha shift with them.
