Salah times Göksun: calculation method and Asr

Method: Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı method (Turkey). Asr: Standard.

Times follow Diyanet's official method: İmsak (Fajr) at 18°, Yatsı (Isha) at 17°, plus temkin, the fixed precaution minutes Diyanet adds (sunrise −7, Dhuhr +5, Asr +4, Maghrib +7). In Turkey İmsak is when the fast begins and equals Fajr here. For the places we checked, our minutes match Diyanet's published tables or differ by one minute at most, because Diyanet may use slightly different coordinates for a town. Switch the method or the Asr school below if your mosque follows another timetable.

Jummah time Göksun

Göksun does not change its clocks; times stay on Europe/Istanbul all year. How times are calculated

Göksun, the Sun and the clock

Göksun is in Kahramanmaras and has about 34,000 people. The nearest larger city is Kahramanmaraş, 61 km to the southeast. Göksun lies 8.5° west of the 45° E meridian that its time zone is based on. The Sun therefore reaches its highest point about 34 minutes after 12:00 on average, around 12:34, and Dhuhr comes later than the clock suggests.

The Sun never stands straight overhead in Göksun: at Dhuhr it climbs to about 75° above the horizon in June and only 29° in December, so noon shadows are much longer in December. Days in Göksun range from 9h 31m in December to 14h 48m in June, a difference of 5h 17m, and Fajr, Maghrib and Isha shift with them. At 1,344 m above sea level, Göksun sits on high ground. Times are calculated for a level horizon; from a hilltop or a tall building sunrise can come a little earlier and sunset a little later than listed, while mountains to the east or west do the opposite.

Maghrib time Göksun compared with nearby cities

Prayer times shift with longitude: about 4 minutes for every degree east or west. Here is how today's Fajr and Maghrib in nearby places compare with Göksun, calculated with the same method.
