Ramadan timetable for Bor

Salah times Bor: calculation method and Asr

Method: Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı method (Turkey). Asr: Standard.

Times follow Diyanet's official method: İmsak (Fajr) at 18°, Yatsı (Isha) at 17°, plus temkin, the fixed precaution minutes Diyanet adds (sunrise −7, Dhuhr +5, Asr +4, Maghrib +7). In Turkey İmsak is when the fast begins and equals Fajr here. For the places we checked, our minutes match Diyanet's published tables or differ by one minute at most, because Diyanet may use slightly different coordinates for a town. Switch the method or the Asr school below if your mosque follows another timetable.

Bor does not change its clocks; times stay on Europe/Istanbul all year. How times are calculated

Bor, the Sun and the clock

Bor is in Nigde Province and has about 32,000 people. The nearest larger city is Niğde, 14 km to the northeast. Bor lies 10.4° west of the 45° E meridian that its time zone is based on. The Sun therefore reaches its highest point about 42 minutes after 12:00 on average, around 12:42, and Dhuhr comes later than the clock suggests.

The Sun never stands straight overhead in Bor: at Dhuhr it climbs to about 76° above the horizon in June and only 29° in December, so noon shadows are much longer in December. Days in Bor range from 9h 32m in December to 14h 48m in June, a difference of 5h 16m, and Fajr, Maghrib and Isha shift with them. At 1,116 m above sea level, Bor sits on high ground. Times are calculated for a level horizon; from a hilltop or a tall building sunrise can come a little earlier and sunset a little later than listed, while mountains to the east or west do the opposite.

Maghrib time Bor compared with nearby cities

Prayer times shift with longitude: about 4 minutes for every degree east or west. Here is how today's Fajr and Maghrib in nearby places compare with Bor, calculated with the same method.
