Al Qaţīf does not change its clocks; times stay on Asia/Riyadh all year. How times are calculated

Al Qaţīf, the Sun and the clock

Al Qaţīf is in Eastern Province and has about 98,000 people. Al Qaţīf lies 5° east of the 45° E meridian that its time zone is based on, so the Sun is highest about 20 minutes before 12:00 on average, around 11:40, and Dhuhr comes earlier than the clock suggests.

The Sun never stands straight overhead in Al Qaţīf: at Dhuhr it climbs to about 87° above the horizon in June and only 40° in December, so noon shadows are much longer in December. Days in Al Qaţīf range from 10h 28m in December to 13h 49m in June, a difference of 3h 21m, and Fajr, Maghrib and Isha shift with them.

Maghrib time Al Qaţīf compared with nearby cities

Prayer times shift with longitude: about 4 minutes for every degree east or west. Here is how today's Fajr and Maghrib in nearby places compare with Al Qaţīf, calculated with the same method.
