Port Harcourt does not change its clocks; times stay on Africa/Lagos all year. How times are calculated

Port Harcourt, the Sun and the clock

Port Harcourt is the main city of Rivers State, home to about 2,100,000 people. Port Harcourt lies 8° west of the 15° E meridian that its time zone is based on. The Sun therefore reaches its highest point about 32 minutes after 12:00 on average, around 12:32, and Dhuhr comes later than the clock suggests.

Port Harcourt lies within the tropics. Around 2 April and 11 September the Sun passes straight overhead at Dhuhr, and upright objects cast almost no shadow at noon. Day length hardly changes in Port Harcourt, from 11h 51m to 12h 24m through the year, so prayer times move only a little from season to season.

Maghrib time Port Harcourt compared with nearby cities

Prayer times shift with longitude: about 4 minutes for every degree east or west. Here is how today's Fajr and Maghrib in nearby places compare with Port Harcourt, calculated with the same method.
