Salah times Azilal: calculation method and Asr

Method: Ministry of Habous (Morocco). Asr: Standard.

Times follow the method of the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs (Fajr 19°, Isha 17°; Chourouq −3, Dhuhr +5, Maghrib +5 minutes). The Ministry's own timetable is the official reference in Morocco and ours has not been compared with it yet. During Ramadan Morocco sets its clocks back an hour (UTC+0 instead of UTC+1); the times above use the clock in force on each day.

Jummah time Azilal

Friday prayer (Jummah) replaces Dhuhr on Fridays. The calculated Dhuhr start in Azilal this Friday is 12:17; the khutbah and congregation times are set by each masjid, so check with your local mosque.

Azilal does not change its clocks; times stay on Africa/Casablanca all year. How times are calculated

Azilal, the Sun and the clock

Azilal is in Beni Mellal-Khenifra and has about 42,000 people. The nearest larger city is Beni Mellal, 47 km to the north-northeast. Azilal lies 21.6° west of the 15° E meridian that its time zone is based on. The Sun therefore reaches its highest point about 86 minutes after 12:00 on average, around 13:26, and Dhuhr comes later than the clock suggests.

The Sun never stands straight overhead in Azilal: at Dhuhr it climbs to about 81° above the horizon in June and only 35° in December, so noon shadows are much longer in December. Days in Azilal range from 10h 3m in December to 14h 14m in June, a difference of 4h 11m, and Fajr, Maghrib and Isha shift with them. At 1,357 m above sea level, Azilal sits on high ground. Times are calculated for a level horizon; from a hilltop or a tall building sunrise can come a little earlier and sunset a little later than listed, while mountains to the east or west do the opposite.

Maghrib time Azilal compared with nearby cities

Prayer times shift with longitude: about 4 minutes for every degree east or west. Here is how today's Fajr and Maghrib in nearby places compare with Azilal, calculated with the same method.
