Marang does not change its clocks; times stay on Asia/Kuala_Lumpur all year. How times are calculated

Marang, the Sun and the clock

Marang is in Terengganu and has about 21,000 people. The nearest larger city is Kuala Terengganu, 16 km to the north-northwest. Marang lies 16.8° west of the 120° E meridian that its time zone is based on. The Sun therefore reaches its highest point about 67 minutes after 12:00 on average, around 13:07, and Dhuhr comes later than the clock suggests.

Marang lies within the tropics. Around 3 April and 10 September the Sun passes straight overhead at Dhuhr, and upright objects cast almost no shadow at noon. Day length hardly changes in Marang, from 11h 49m to 12h 25m through the year, so prayer times move only a little from season to season.

Maghrib time Marang compared with nearby cities
