Prayagraj, the Sun and the clock

Prayagraj is in Uttar Pradesh and has about 1,100,000 people. Prayagraj lies almost on the 82.5° E meridian that its time zone is based on, so the Sun is highest close to 12:00 on the clock, around 12:03 on average. Dhuhr begins just after that moment.

The Sun never stands straight overhead in Prayagraj: at Dhuhr it climbs to about 88° above the horizon in June and only 41° in December, so noon shadows are much longer in December. Days in Prayagraj range from 10h 33m in December to 13h 43m in June, a difference of 3h 10m, and Fajr, Maghrib and Isha shift with them.
