Lucknow does not change its clocks; times stay on Asia/Kolkata all year. How times are calculated
Lucknow is the main city of Uttar Pradesh, home to about 2,500,000 people. Lucknow lies 1.6° west of the 82.5° E meridian that its time zone is based on. The Sun therefore reaches its highest point about 6 minutes after 12:00 on average, around 12:06, and Dhuhr comes later than the clock suggests.
The Sun never stands straight overhead in Lucknow: at Dhuhr it climbs to about 87° above the horizon in June and only 40° in December, so noon shadows are much longer in December. Days in Lucknow range from 10h 27m in December to 13h 50m in June, a difference of 3h 23m, and Fajr, Maghrib and Isha shift with them.
Prayer times shift with longitude: about 4 minutes for every degree east or west. Here is how today's Fajr and Maghrib in nearby places compare with Lucknow, calculated with the same method.

Get Awqatly for Windows (free)Lucknow is a centre of Shia Islam in India. The Bara Imambara, also called the Asafi Imambara, was built by Asaf-ud-Daula, the Nawab of Awadh, between 1780 and 1784, and it is described as the world's second largest imambara, after the Nizamat Imambara. Its great central hall is a vaulted room without any beams to support the ceiling and it contains the tomb of Asaf-ud-Daula. Eight surrounding chambers at different roof heights form the Bhulbhulaiya labyrinth, with 489 identical doorways, which is possibly the only surviving maze in India. The complex also includes the Asafi Mosque, a steep well with running water called a bowli, and, outside it, the 18-metre Roomi Darwaza that was its western gate.
The imambara is a Shia shrine and a monument of national importance, looked after by the Archaeological Survey of India, and it is used for the mourning ceremonies of Muharram. The architect, Kifayatullah of Delhi, is buried in the main hall beside the Nawab. Lucknow is also home to the Farangi Mahal, whose head, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali, is Qazi of the city and president of the Markazi Chand Committee, which announces the sighting of the moon. In 2018 the Markazi committee and the Shia Chand Committee of Lucknow disagreed, with the Shia committee announcing a sighting well before the Markazi committee did.
For prayer times, Lucknow lies at 26.8 degrees north and India uses Indian Standard Time, UTC+5:30.
