Kolkata does not change its clocks; times stay on Asia/Kolkata all year. How times are calculated
Kolkata is the main city of West Bengal, home to about 4,600,000 people. Kolkata lies 5.9° east of the 82.5° E meridian that its time zone is based on, so the Sun is highest about 23 minutes before 12:00 on average, around 11:37, and Dhuhr comes earlier than the clock suggests.
Kolkata lies within the tropics. Around 6 June and 8 July the Sun passes straight overhead at Dhuhr, and upright objects cast almost no shadow at noon. Days in Kolkata range from 10h 45m in December to 13h 31m in June, a difference of 2h 46m, and Fajr, Maghrib and Isha shift with them.
Prayer times shift with longitude: about 4 minutes for every degree east or west. Here is how today's Fajr and Maghrib in nearby places compare with Kolkata, calculated with the same method.

Get Awqatly for Windows (free)The Nakhoda Mosque is the principal mosque of Kolkata, in the Chitpur area of Burrabazar at the junction of Zakaria Street and Rabindra Sarani. It was built by the Kutchi Memon Jamat, a small Sunni community from Kutch, and rebuilt between 1926 and 1935. Its design is modelled on the mausoleum of the Mughal emperor Akbar at Sikandra near Agra. The prayer hall holds about 10,000 worshippers, the two main minarets are 46 metres high, and it follows the Hanafi school.
Kolkata is the capital of West Bengal, the state with the second-largest Muslim population in India after Uttar Pradesh: about 24.6 million people, 27.01% of the state, at the 2011 census. The census does not give a religion count for the city in the sources used here, but language shows part of the picture: 586,234 of Kolkata's 4,496,694 residents, about 13%, spoke Urdu, and a source on the city's communities groups Marwaris, Biharis and Urdu-speaking Muslims together as 36% of its people. The Kutchi Memons who built the Nakhoda Mosque were one of the trading communities of Burrabazar.
For prayer times, Kolkata lies at 22.6 degrees north and India has a single time zone, Indian Standard Time, UTC+5:30. Because Kolkata is far to the east, the sun rises and sets about an hour earlier there than in Mumbai. On this site's calculation the fast from Fajr to Maghrib in Kolkata lasts about 15 hours on 21 June and 12 hours on 21 December. Most mosques in Kolkata use the Karachi angles of 18 degrees with the Hanafi Asr, and congregation times are set by each mosque.
