Clocks change on 24 April and 29 October. Prayer times on those days shift by an hour on the clock, not in the sky. How times are calculated

Al Mansurah, the Sun and the clock

Al Mansurah is the main city of Dakahlia, home to about 620,000 people. Al Mansurah lies 1.4° east of the 30° E meridian that its time zone is based on, so the Sun is highest about 6 minutes before 12:00 on average, around 11:54, and Dhuhr comes earlier than the clock suggests. In summer, when the clocks go forward an hour, that moment moves to around 12:54.

The Sun never stands straight overhead in Al Mansurah: at Dhuhr it climbs to about 82° above the horizon in June and only 36° in December, so noon shadows are much longer in December. Days in Al Mansurah range from 10h 8m in December to 14h 10m in June, a difference of 4h 2m, and Fajr, Maghrib and Isha shift with them.

Maghrib time Al Mansurah compared with nearby cities

Prayer times shift with longitude: about 4 minutes for every degree east or west. Here is how today's Fajr and Maghrib in nearby places compare with Al Mansurah, calculated with the same method.
