Barishal, the Sun and the clock

Barishal is the main city of Barisal Division, home to about 200,000 people. Barishal lies almost on the 90° E meridian that its time zone is based on, so the Sun is highest close to 12:00 on the clock, around 11:59 on average. Dhuhr begins just after that moment.

Barishal lies within the tropics. Around 7 June and 7 July the Sun passes straight overhead at Dhuhr, and upright objects cast almost no shadow at noon. Days in Barishal range from 10h 44m in December to 13h 32m in June, a difference of 2h 48m, and Fajr, Maghrib and Isha shift with them.
